In our line of work, we get to see the final, polished product: the ring sparkling on a finger. But what we love most are the stories behind the rings. The nervous whispers, the elaborate plans, the sudden rainstorms, and the beautiful, tearful moments when everything goes right (or goes completely wrong, but is still perfect).
Here are three real proposal stories from our Riolls family that remind us why we do what we do.
1. The Missing Ring (Siddharth & Priya)
Siddharth had planned a beautiful hike in the Western Ghats, intending to propose at sunrise. But halfway up, he realized the ring box had slipped out of his pocket. Panic set in. He spent two hours retracing his steps on his hands and knees, with Priya thinking he had lost his mind. He finally found the box nestled in a patch of wild grass. He got down on one knee right there, sweaty and relieved. Priya said yes, laughing through her tears.
2. The Quiet Kitchen (Arjun & Meera)
Arjun had planned a grand dinner, but on the night of the proposal, Meera came home exhausted and stressed from work. She burst into tears the moment she walked in. Arjun immediately cancelled the reservations, made her comfort food, and put on her favorite music. As they sat on the kitchen floor eating ice cream, Arjun pulled out the ring. "I wanted to propose when everything was perfect," he said. "But I love you most when life is messy." It was the easiest yes Meera ever said.
3. The Generational Promise (Kabir & Aisha)
Kabir worked with our designers to repurpose his grandmother's diamond into a modern setting. He proposed in the garden where his grandparents had married fifty years before, promising Aisha that their love would carry the same enduring strength.
